Spotlight Player of the week
Chosen by the Burlinton County Times as their "Spotlight Player of the week"-Micheal "Mr Mean" Staton
[He's a Florence guy, and all that it entails.
Mike Staton has spent four years coming through the ranks in Flashes football, and now he's what Coach Joe Frappolli had hoped he'd become; a contributor on both sides of the ball. "He's really dedicated and a great team player," Frappolli said. "He played fullback, and when we had some injuries at wing, he moved out to the wing. He played some linebacker for us, and he moved when we needed help on the defensive line, and he's played extremely well back there." Well enough on Friday night to be part of one of the Flashes' best efforts of the season. They held New Egypt to just 58 rushing yards in a 27-7 victory. "He's definitely looking at colleges," Frappolli said. "He doesn't get a lot of notoriety, but he's somebody who enjoys playing the game and plays it very hard."]
A hard hitting and fiery competior, "Mr. Mean" exemplifies Flashes football, always giving 100 plus percent on the field regardless of the situation. He's a hitter whether he is playing offense or defense and he takes pride in what he does. His work ethic is impeccable and it shows when he is on the field even, if when he is not in the game. He is a consumate "Team" Player.
