Flashes 32 Ravens 13

We call it "A Whuppin"

Flashes roast Ravens on their Home Field:

The "Mighty Flashes" (supposedly) didn't have a good game in their season opener against Maple Shade. Nobody stopped to consider that just maybe, the Wildcats have gotten better (just ask New Egypt). So when they gave up an early score to The Ravens, it may have looked like the "mighty" had gone out of the Flashes. After their opening series blast, the Ravens (who put up 35 in a win over Allentown) knew that the "mighty" was still there.

Jimmy "The Snake Charmer" Martinson got his magic act working on the Flashes third possesion of the game and drove the "Mighty Ones" to their first score, taking it in himself on a one yard skeak. Still the Ravens were not to be taken lightly. After Bryant "Lil Big Cat" Watts kocked in a 21 yard field goal, the two teams played out the rest of the half and went into the lockerrooms with the score a very even 10-6.

And then it happened
The Mighty Flashes opened the scoring in the second half, Zack "Attack" Carugno caught a beautifuly thrown 17 yard TD pass from the "Snake Charmer" to stretch the lead to 11. This time the Ravens responded right back to bring the score back to 17-13. With the Raven defense keying on running back Marcus "Flash" Rawls, Coach Frapp pulled a big offensive switcharoo. Fullbacks Korey "Reds" Linico and Mike "Mr. Mean" Staton became the primary running backs and tight end Bryant "Lil Big Cat" Watts the reciever. The results were stunning. "Reds" piled up 88 yards in the second half (97 for the game) and wrapped two TD's around a safety to turn the close contest into "A Whuppin". Kudos to Bryant "Lil Big Cat" Watts, not only for the nifty 40+ yard catch & run that set up the Mighty Flashes Final score, but also the PAT's, field goal and booming kick offs. Marcus "Flash" Rawls who made up for a short offensive performance with a stellar defensive job at the corner, Jimmy "Snake Charmer" Martinson and the punting team, words can't describe the job they did. The "O" line & the "D" for stepping it up a notch in the second half and getting the job done. "Big" Jim Narkun and Kevin Jiras, playing through the pain and senior leadership. Jay Jay, injured in the line of duty. Mike "Mr. Mean" Staton and Sean "Steam" Harris, big hits awards.

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

they must have spent a pretty penny on that lovely artificial turf on the field, but portable lights? What's up with that? UGGG, the lighting was horrible out there. Dark spots abounded, they were not high enough, when you looked accross the field you looked directly into the lights on the other side. Photography was near impossible after the first quarter. Why not just play on Saturday afternoons?
