| Korey "red" Linico rushed for 138 yards on 22 carries and 2 touchdows, he caught 4 passes for 43 yards and a third score. The senior fullback (recognising that star running back Marcus "Flash" Rawls was injured) took the team on his shouldes and carried them to victory. The Panthers stared out like gang busters, scoring on the first offensive play of the game, a 65 yard pass play that caught the Flashes defense off guard. Not to be out done, the "Mighty Flashes" took the insuing kickoff and promptly marched down the field to tie the score. The "Mighty Flashes took the lead at 13-7 but the Panthers came storming back in the second quarter to take a commanding 27-13 lead. The "Mighty Flashes got started on the comback trai int the second half. The big "Red" one finished a 13 play scoring drive with a 4 yard run late in the third quarter to bring the "Mighty Flashes" within 7. After freshman Aaron Salaga and the defense stopped the next offensive attempt the "Mighty Flashes" turned "Red" loose again, the drive went for 85 yards with big "Red" converting on three consesecutive third down conversions. "Red" capped the drive off with a 22 yard TD where the last five yards were a total team effort as the big "Red" kept his leggs going along with the"O" line to get over the goaline. With the score tied and time running out the heroics shifted to QB Dylan "Stick" Martin, Paul Fletcher, Kevin "King Kev" Allison and sophomore place kicker Dakota Benish. "Stick" hit Fletch on a sideline pass for 24 yards on 3rd and 14 "Red" broke loose for 10 on a draw play and "Stick" hit the "King" for 18 yards with 1.1 seconds left to play. A penalty stopped the clock and set the stage for Benish's game winning 35 yard field goal. | |
