Mighty Flashes use "running backs by the numbers" and slick timely passing to demolish Warriors
Donnell "Eel" Cole (15 yard run), Korey "Red" Linico, (40 yard run) Jake "Bulldog" Foehr (5 yard run), Dylan "Stick" Martin (1 yard run) and Quadir"Que" Franklin (28 yard run) scored the touchdowns. Dakota "Big Foot" Benish kicked a 23 yard field goal and five extra points to finish out the scoring. Running backs Marcus "Flash" Rawls, Sam "Big Bam" Ugowe, and Daquan "Buldozer" Chapman and Wide outs Adam "Thin Man" Scmidt, Kevin "King Kev" Allison and Paul "To Small" Fletcher set up the touchdows with a powefull ground game mixed in with timely pass catching. QB Dylan "Stick" Martin directed the offensive explosion (the best output this season) while the defense (after letting the Warriors drive 90 yards on their first posession) held their opponents scoreless after they bocthed their only real scoring threat by missing a 20 yard field goal attempt on the opening drive. *** Unsung Heros: Jake Foehr, Korey, Linico, Treshawn Roberts, Ian Grover & Aaron Salaga |
| The "Mighty Flashes used 12 different running backs to amass 304 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Junior Sam "Big Bam" Ugowe led the attack with 90 yards on on10 carries Senior Marcus "Flash" Rawls, playing in only his second game of the season because of a pre season injury (who led the rushing attack in last weeks win at City) seems to have fully recovered and had three big runs. The Flashes first score came on a nifty 15 yard scamper by (relatively unheard of) Donnell "Eel" Cole who gives the Flashes another small slippery back in the "Marcus" style. Also getting a lot of touches from the running back spot is Daquan "Bulldozer" Chapmam who has shown much improvement in both his running and blocking. With a relativly young offensive line starting to gel and a good compliment of recievers (led by Junior Adam "Thin Man" Schmidt & Senior Bryant "Lil Big Cat" Watts) to complement the ground game Senior QB Dylan "Stick" Martin had the offense running on all cylinders as they cruised to their biggest scoring output of the season despite a cold rain that fell steadily through most of the game. DEFENSE-DEFENSE-DEFENSE! Everybody knows the name of the game is defense. "Defense wins champiomships" is a common quote. In Football defense starts with tackling, good tackling is the key and the backbone of good defense. There is no substitute for it. The Flashes gave up 90 yards on the New Eygpt's first offenseive series as the Warriors took the ball from their 2 yard line down to the Flashes 8 yard line. A time out call and Coach Nicky Lubrano's pep talk resulted in the defense holding the Warriors to 0 yards on the next 3 plays and Adam " Thin Man" Schmidt blocking a 20 yard field goal attempt. After that the defense got back to the basics and the Warriors never put up another real threat (Almost) completly healthy for the first time all season, the Mighty Flashes are 3-2 overall (3-1 in the Freedom) and looking like a real threat to take the division title back. One game at a time is what Coach Frappolli teaches (and rightly so), but it's nice to see the team looking like they have a real shot at the title. Welcome back "Lil Big Cat" "Flash" and "Que", tonight's win was a real tribute to the "TEAM" concept. With such an unselfesh group of players we are alread WINNERS! Let's keep it going. Kudos to the kicking team, another fine job |
