The injury plauged "Mighty Flashes"got back on the winning track as they crushed happless City 37-8. The game was barely a minute old when "Big" Jim Narkun busted through the line on a high snap from center to tackle the Blue Devils QB in the end zone for a 2 point safety With three starters out with injuries, City tried to play "bully-ball" with some questionable hits that caused the Mighty Flashes a few more bumps and bruises. But it got them nothing but penalties and bad field position. The Flashes took advantage of the Blue Devil mistakes and scored their 37 points in 3 quarters. Jimmy "Snake charmer" Martinson threw for 78 yards on three attemps including a 51 yard bomb to running back Sean "Steam" Harris who was filling in for the injured Marcus "Flash" Rawls and a nifty 7 yard TD toss to Steve "Mighty Munch" Muni who was filling in for the injured Zack "Attack" Carugno. With both "Flash" & " Attack" out, the running game fell on the shoulders of "Steam", Korey "Red" Linico and Daquan ""Bulldozier" Chapman. "Steam" & "Bulldozier" both scored on 5 yard runs and "Red" had at least 75 yards but probably more like 100 as the "Mighty Flashes" ground game never missed a beat. Jack "Mack Truck" Foehr scored the Flashes last TD on a one yard plunge late in the third quarter. With the Flashes defensive back field also short due to injuries, the Devils launched an all out air attack, hoping to catch the subs off guard but it didn't work. The " Mighty Flashes "D" line constantly put pressure on their "O" line causing numerous high snaps as they Devils operated out of the shotgun. when the QB did manage to handle the snap, the "D" put the pressure on causing hurried or erratic throws that fell incomplete. The defense held them scoreless until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Paul "Fletch" Fletcher blocked a punt (which lead to a touchdown) and recovered a fumble for a TD.
Kudos to the "Mighty Flashes reserves, those who filled in for the injured and those who came in after the startersset the tone. Job well done! |
